Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Harry Kimtai, officiated the launch and presentation of digitization devices in Embu County on Monday. The initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to streamlining healthcare delivery through Taifa Care, under the Social Health Authority (SHA), which is now fully operational.
During the launch, PS Kimtai reiterated the importance of adherence to the new healthcare guidelines, emphasizing improvements in the benefits package and revenue collection mechanisms. He stressed the need for transparency and accessibility of information, urging that the benefit package be displayed in all health facilities to ensure public awareness.
“We are here to take you through the new Primary Healthcare Model, including the capitation framework and benefits package. It is essential that the benefit package is displayed in all health facilities for public awareness,” Kimtai stated.
The digitization effort is designed to revolutionize healthcare service delivery in Embu by integrating digital solutions into the county’s healthcare infrastructure. Kimtai urged local healthcare administrators to fully adopt and integrate the new system into their service delivery models to enhance efficiency and service accessibility for residents.
As part of the initiative, the Health Management Information System (HMIS) was rolled out, ensuring seamless data management and patient record keeping. Additionally, the launch marked the establishment of a human resource health record system in Embu, outlining its implementation strategy and training plans for medical personnel.
The event provided an opportunity for healthcare administrators and county officials to engage with representatives from the SHA and the Digital Health Agency (DHA), facilitating knowledge-sharing and reinforcing the Ministry of Health’s commitment to a smooth transition to digital healthcare solutions.
Kimtai was accompanied by several key officials, including Embu County Deputy Governor Kinyua Mugo, Moses Kuria, Senior Advisor at the Council of Economic Advisors at State House, Dr. Daniel Mwai, Dr. Thuranira Kaugiria, Acting CEO of the Digital Health Agency Anthony Lenaiyara, and Acting CEO of SHA Robert Ingasira.
