President William Ruto has reappointed Bishop Robert Theuri Maina as the Chairperson of the Kenya National Library Services (KNLS) Board for a two-year term. The announcement was made through a gazette notice dated February 28, 2025.
Maina, who was first appointed to the position in February 2023, initially took over from Omar Jibril Mohammed. His reappointment underscores the government’s confidence in his leadership in overseeing the KNLS board and enhancing library services across the country.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 3 (2) and Paragraph 1 (2) of the Schedule to the Kenya National Library Services Board Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, reappoint Robert Theuri Maina to be the Chairperson of the Kenya National Library Services Board, for a period of two (2) years, with effect from the 28th February 2025,” the notice stated.
In addition to Maina’s reappointment, several other key appointments were made by various cabinet secretaries as part of efforts to streamline government services.
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi appointed Paul Nduati as a member of the National Museums of Kenya Board. Nduati will serve in this capacity for three years, contributing to the preservation and management of Kenya’s cultural heritage.
Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi appointed Jeremiah Obingo as a member of the board of directors of the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA). Obingo replaces Abraham Kipruto and will serve for a three-year term, overseeing regulatory policies in the energy sector.
Tourism CS Rebecca Miano also made a significant appointment, naming Rachael Adhiambo Omollo as a member of the Kenya Wildlife Board of Trustees. Omollo will serve a three-year term, aiding in the management and conservation of Kenya’s wildlife resources.
Meanwhile, Agriculture CS Mutahi Kagwe reappointed Charles Kirgiwi, Florence Mutembei, and Kennedy Mochere Kaburi as members of the Tea Board of Kenya. Their three-year tenure is expected to support the regulation and development of the tea industry.
These appointments highlight the government’s efforts to strengthen institutions and improve service delivery across various sectors.
