The selection panel for nominees seeking appointment as the Chairperson and members of the National Police Service Commission (NPSC) has officially opened the application process. Qualified individuals are invited to submit their applications before the deadline of March 5, 2025, by 5 PM.
In an official notice published in local dailies, Arthur Osiya, the Chairperson of the Selection Panel, called on eligible Kenyans to apply for the prestigious positions. The recruitment aims to fill the role of the Chairperson along with four commission member positions.
Applicants vying for the chairperson position must be Kenyan citizens with a degree from a university recognized in Kenya. Additionally, candidates must fulfill the leadership and integrity requirements outlined in Chapter Six of the Constitution. An important criterion is that the applicant must not have previously been a member of the National Police Service.
The four available member positions fall into two distinct categories:
Two slots are reserved for retired senior police officers. The candidates must:
- Be Kenyan citizens.
- Hold a degree from a recognized university in Kenya.
- Be retired officers from either the Kenya Police Service or the Administrative Police Service.
- Have served at the rank of Senior Superintendent of Police or above.
- Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
The other two positions are designated for members of the public with exceptional service records. Candidates for these positions must:
- Be Kenyan citizens.
- Hold a degree from a university recognized in Kenya.
- Have at least 10 years of experience in fields such as Finance and Administration, Economics, Human Resource Development and Management, Public Administration, Labour Laws, Law, Human Rights, Ethics and Governance, Mediation and Consensus Building, or Change Management.
- Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
- Not be current or former members of the National Police Service.
- Have demonstrated a distinguished career in their respective fields.
Applicants are required to submit the following documents:
- National identity card
- Academic and professional certificates
- Transcripts
- Clearances from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and security organs
Submissions can be made via email to npscselectionpanel2025@publicservice.go.ke for online applications. Alternatively, hand-delivered applications should be submitted to the office of the Secretary or Chief Executive Officer of the Public Service Commission at Commission House, Harambee Avenue.
After the application period closes, the selection panel will review submissions and publish the names of shortlisted candidates in print media for public transparency.
