The Social Health Authority (SHA) has announced a job vacancy for the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO), with all applications due by 5:00 p.m. on March 20, 2025. The position is open to dynamic, visionary, and result-driven professionals who can provide strategic leadership and ensure the efficient administration of SHA’s funds and policies.
According to an official notice , the CEO will be responsible for overseeing financial management, implementing strategies, and developing policies to achieve SHA’s mandate. The individual will also act as the organization’s key representative in high-level stakeholder engagements.
“The CEO shall ensure prudent resource management at the authority and will have the responsibility to open and operate bank accounts with approval from the Board and the National Treasury,” the notice stated. The role also involves signing contracts and agreements that align with the objectives of the Funds established under the SHA Act.
Additionally, the CEO will provide leadership to senior management and staff while executing the functions of an accounting officer. This includes preparing annual budgets, ensuring internal financial controls, and overseeing the day-to-day management of the authority.
Applicants must be Kenyan citizens with a master’s degree from a recognized university in a relevant field. They should possess extensive knowledge and experience in health insurance, health financing, health economics, or healthcare administration, with at least 10 years of relevant experience.
Candidates must also have served in a management role for a minimum of five years. Integrity is a key consideration, and applicants should not have been convicted of any offenses or be serving a prison sentence. They must also meet the Leadership and Integrity requirements outlined in the Constitution of Kenya.
Other essential qualifications include strong strategic and innovative thinking, intellectual leadership, and the ability to manage people and financial resources effectively. Applicants should also have excellent interpersonal, management, and communication skills, along with organizational and computer proficiency.
Shortlisted applicants will be required to present several certificates, including:
- A Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations
- A Tax Compliance Certificate from the Kenya Revenue Authority
- A Clearance Certificate from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
- A Clearance Certificate from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)
- A Credit Report from a Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)
