Vivo has officially launched its latest smartphone, the Vivo V50, in Kenya, aiming squarely at the premium mid-range market with a bold focus on mobile photography and cutting-edge design. Priced at Ksh.69,999, the V50 is set to be available from April 14, 2025.
In a bid to differentiate itself in Kenya’s competitive smartphone arena, Vivo has partnered with German optics giant ZEISS to co-engineer an advanced portrait photography system for the V50. This collaboration brings high-performance imaging to the forefront, with the device boasting 50-megapixel sensors across all its primary rear cameras. The main camera features a large 1/1.55″ sensor and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), promising sharp, vibrant, and detailed photos across a variety of lighting conditions.
“The Vivo V series has always been about empowering our users to capture life’s precious moments,” said James Irungu, Vivo’s Brand Manager in Kenya. “With the V50, we’re taking another leap forward in mobile imaging. Its advanced portrait capabilities, premium design, and powerful performance redefine the expectations for a smartphone in this price range.”
The V50 isn’t just about camera innovation. It also features a luxurious and nature-inspired design, available in colours like the locally resonant Mombasa Blue. With premium touches such as matte precision Diamond Pattern engraving and high-gloss cut corners, the phone embodies both sophistication and craftsmanship.
Battery life is another area where Vivo is making strides. The V50 comes equipped with a 6000 mAh battery enhanced by Vivo’s proprietary “BlueVolt” technology, all neatly packed into a slim, curved frame. This ensures extended usage without compromising on aesthetics or portability.
With the launch of the V50, Vivo is taking on heavyweights in Kenya’s mid-range segment by blending standout photography, elegant design, and long battery life. As consumers increasingly seek value without sacrificing premium features, the Vivo V50 positions itself as a compelling choice for photography enthusiasts and design-conscious users alike.
