Tureygua Inaru, a 31-year-old Florida woman, was sentenced for attempting to orchestrate the murders of her family members and an assistant state attorney. In December 2022, while incarcerated at the Osceola County Jail on charges of threatening former Disney coworkers, Inaru sought out inmates to find someone who could kill her parents and grandparents. Her motive was rooted in claims that her parents had molested her and her siblings, and she was reportedly expecting to inherit $2 million after their deaths. In addition to targeting her family, Inaru also planned to harm an assistant state attorney, stating she wanted him to “suffer” and was indifferent to the potential deaths of his family.
Inaru’s actions were discovered after two inmates reported her plans to law enforcement. She had allegedly offered $50,000 for each family member killed, with the promise that the inheritance would cover the costs. The inmates described Inaru as increasingly erratic, and one even suggested that she had “snapped.” They also reported that Inaru had bragged about knowing an ex-Navy SEAL who could carry out the murder of the assistant state attorney.
Despite her family’s being made aware of the threats, Inaru’s father dismissed them as lacking credibility, attributing his daughter’s behavior to mental health issues. However, the assistant state attorney had already been subjected to months of harassment by Inaru, who had sent fabricated emails to him, attempting to make it appear as though he was framing her. This campaign of harassment escalated to the point where the attorney felt compelled to carry a firearm for protection and to change his lifestyle out of concern for his safety and the safety of his family.
The ex-Navy SEAL, who was allegedly enlisted by Inaru to kill the attorney, described her as being “crazier than a sack full of wild weasels.” He also revealed that Inaru had fabricated stories about her family, including claims that her mother had attempted to kill her years earlier. Despite Inaru’s insistence that the ex-Navy SEAL was involved in her plot, he denied ever meeting her in person or agreeing to carry out any murders.
The plot was uncovered when a second inmate informed jail staff about Inaru’s intentions. This led to an undercover operation in January 2023, where a detective posed as an inmate. Inaru was subsequently interviewed in February 2023, and when confronted with the evidence, she denied all allegations, shifting blame onto the inmates who had reported her. However, the evidence against her was substantial, and in March 2023, an arrest warrant was issued, charging her with three counts of solicitation to commit murder and one count of cyberstalking.
After a lengthy legal process, Inaru entered a plea on January 8, 2025. She was sentenced to 30 months in prison, followed by eight years of supervised probation. The case highlights the dangers of unchecked mental health issues and the lengths some individuals will go to in pursuit of vengeance and financial gain.
