Four Kenyan youth who were abducted in December 2024 have finally been reunited with their families, bringing a mix of relief and lingering anxiety as the search for cartoonist Kibet Bull continues.
On Monday morning, families of Billy Mwangi, Peter Muteti, Bernard Kavuli, and Rony Kiplangat confirmed that their loved ones had reached out to them after weeks of silence. According to family accounts, each of the individuals had been found in different parts of the country.
Rony Kiplangat was located in Machakos County, while Bernard Kavuli, who was abducted in Ngong, was discovered in Kitale. Peter Muteti was found in Nairobi’s Central Business District. His family reported that he appeared disoriented but is now recovering at home. Billy Mwangi’s location has not been disclosed, but his family expressed immense relief at his return.
The case, however, is far from resolved. The whereabouts of Kibet Bull, a renowned cartoonist, remain unknown. Bull was abducted shortly after his brother, Rony Kiplangat, went missing. While Rony’s return has provided some hope, the family continues to worry about Kibet, whose work as a satirical cartoonist has occasionally drawn controversy.
Adding to the mystery is the case of Steve Mbisi, another individual reported missing under similar circumstances. Authorities have not yet established any links between the cases, but families and human rights organizations are urging swift investigations.
Citizen Digital has learned that police are intensifying efforts to unravel the events leading to the abductions. Investigators are analyzing accounts from the released individuals to piece together possible motives and identify those responsible.
Speaking to the media, the family of Kibet Bull pleaded for his safe return, stating, “We urge whoever has him to release him. We just want him home.”
The recent recoveries bring both hope and concern, as questions remain unanswered. Kenyans are calling for greater accountability and action to ensure the safety of citizens amid growing fears of abduction trends.
As families wait anxiously for more answers, the nation continues to pray for the safe return of Kibet Bull and Steve Mbisi.
