Fred Kerley’s estranged wife has shared a harrowing account of an alleged violent confrontation with the Olympic sprinter, accusing him of infidelity and a pattern of abusive behavior. Angelica, a mother of three, described the terrifying moment when she feared for her life during an early morning altercation in their home near Miami.
According to Angelica, the incident began around 6 a.m. when Kerley returned home in a state of anger. She explained that his fury was sparked by her following an old acquaintance on Instagram. “He doesn’t have a shirt on, he doesn’t have shoes on. He walks up to me and tries to snatch my phone, asking why I’m following that man,” she recounted.
Angelica said the situation quickly escalated when she resisted his attempts to take her phone. “He comes around and is snatching at me. I take my left hand and swing it across his face, not hard but because he’s at me. It’s like, back up. He stands back, he looks at me, and he says, ‘If you put your hands on me again, we’re gonna have issues.’ I’m standing up on the bed in my nightclothes… and he charges me.”
Describing the physical assault, Angelica said Kerley dragged her off the bed, causing her to fall face-first onto the wooden floor. “I landed on the floor, bashing my nose. He still tries to grab my phone, which I slide under me. So I’m on my stomach on the floor. He takes his arm and wraps it around my neck and he’s literally choking me.”
Angelica claimed the situation became even more dire as she struggled to breathe. “He’s not choking me where I can gasp for air. I can’t gasp for air at this point. I’m literally tapping him. I can’t even swing at him because of the way he has my body – the lower half is on the floor, the top half is bent back and lifted up. Finally, he lets me go, and I breathe in as hard as I can so I can scream out loud.”
In her desperation, Angelica yelled for Kerley’s relatives, who were staying at the house, to intervene. She alleged that Kerley eventually pulled away but managed to grab her phone before leaving the house in his car.
Angelica also opened up about their turbulent 10-year relationship, claiming that Kerley has a history of infidelity and leads a “double life.” She described the emotional and physical toll of their marriage, emphasizing the pain of discovering his alleged betrayals. She stated that the confrontation in May 2024 was a breaking point in their relationship.
The allegations come amid other controversies surrounding Kerley, including a separate incident where he was reportedly tased by police during a night out in Miami Beach with another woman. These incidents have brought scrutiny to the sprinter’s personal life, overshadowing his achievements as an Olympic medalist.
Angelica’s account sheds light on the challenges she faced during their marriage, expressing her hope for justice and a resolution to the turmoil. The details of the alleged incident highlight the severity of the situation and the emotional scars it has left behind.
As the legal process unfolds, Angelica’s story raises broader concerns about the importance of addressing domestic violence and supporting survivors. Her decision to speak out underscores the courage it takes to confront such experiences and seek accountability.
