Gatundu South MP Kagombe Arrested, Faces Charges for Thika Town Shooting

Detectives from the DCI arrested an MP for a fatal shooting on May 17 in Thika, Kiambu County. The MP is set to take a plea on Monday, June 3. Police had previously attempted to secure an arrest warrant without success.

Two MPs, Gatundu North’s Elijah Njoroge and Thika Town’s Alice Ng’ang’a, were questioned by DCI homicide detectives. Both denied involvement in the shooting, surrendered their licensed firearms for testing, and were informed that the investigation was focused on murder and causing bodily harm.

The incident at a proposed market site in Kamenu Ward resulted in the death of 26-year-old David Nduati and serious injury to Anthony Kamau. Spent cartridges and bullets traced to the MP’s licensed gun provided crucial evidence.

The violent confrontation sparked protests, with the community demanding accountability for the shooting.
