Haiti PM Details Rapid Deployment of More Kenyan Police Officers to Combat Gangs

Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe has announced the rapid deployment of additional Kenyan police officers. This strategic initiative aims to bolster the efforts of the multinational security mission in restoring order and safety in the nation.

Prime Minister Lamothe, speaking after a series of high-level meetings with U.S. officials, emphasized the urgency of the situation. “It will happen quickly. We can already see in the coming weeks that we will have a second contingent,” he stated, underscoring the immediate need for reinforced security measures. This announcement follows the initial deployment of Kenyan officers, whose presence has already begun to make a tangible difference on the ground.

The discussions between Prime Minister Lamothe and U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken focused on the multinational security mission’s strategic objectives and operational logistics. The mission, which includes contributions from various countries, is designed to provide a comprehensive approach to tackling the pervasive gang violence that has plagued Haiti.
