The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) has announced the availability of 5,000 training slots for the March 2025 intake, in collaboration with the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS). This announcement provides an opportunity for prospective students to apply for any of the 21 available programs before the application deadline on March 4, 2025. Both KMTC and KUCCPS made this information public through separate statements on the social media platform X on Wednesday, highlighting the application process and eligibility criteria.
According to KUCCPS, the application process is open to individuals who were unsuccessful in previous attempts as well as new applicants. The institution encouraged interested candidates to visit the student portal to submit their applications. The online system ensures a streamlined process, allowing applicants to complete their submissions with ease. This intake is particularly significant, as it caters to a wide range of candidates, including those who sat for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations between the years 2000 and 2024.
Previously, KUCCPS had opened its online application portal between January 24 and February 14, 2025. During that period, CEO Agnes Wahome confirmed that the slots were available for Form Four leavers across different academic years. The decision to open a new round of applications for the March intake follows a high demand for training opportunities at KMTC, reflecting the growing interest in medical-related courses. This initiative aligns with the government’s efforts to strengthen healthcare education and address the increasing demand for skilled medical personnel in Kenya.
KMTC CEO Dr. Kelly Oluoch emphasised the importance of the new intake, urging interested candidates to seize the opportunity before the deadline. He confirmed that the available slots cover a variety of medical programs aimed at equipping students with the necessary skills for careers in the healthcare sector. Dr. Oluoch also reassured applicants that KMTC, in collaboration with KUCCPS, has implemented measures to support those facing challenges in the application process. To ensure a smooth application experience, officers have been deployed to selected campuses, and trained desk officers are available to provide necessary assistance.
The latest announcement comes as KMTC is in the final stages of processing admissions for students selected during the previous application cycle. Last week, the institution began issuing 14,338 admission letters to successful applicants expected to join the March 2025 intake. The process of dispatching letters will continue in the coming days, particularly for those enrolling in diploma, higher diploma, and certificate upgrading courses. This phased approach ensures that all successful applicants receive their letters in time for the upcoming academic session.
New students admitted to KMTC through this intake are expected to report to their respective campuses on March 18, 2025. This development represents a crucial step in expanding access to medical education in Kenya, further reinforcing KMTC’s role as a leading institution in training healthcare professionals. With the government’s continued investment in medical education and training, KMTC remains committed to providing high-quality learning opportunities for aspiring healthcare workers. The institution’s dedication to excellence has made it a preferred choice for students seeking to build careers in the medical field.
