A somber atmosphere has enveloped Nyagichenche Secondary School as parents, teachers, and students grapple with the sudden demise of their esteemed Deputy Principal, Madam Ednah Naliaka. The educational community was struck with grief upon receiving the news of her passing, which occurred on Sunday morning at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), where she had been undergoing treatment.
Madam Naliaka’s death has sent ripples of sorrow through the region, compounding an already difficult period for local educators. The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Kisii branch Executive Secretary, Joseph Abincha, conveyed his deep condolences, noting that this has been a particularly challenging season for teachers in the area.
In a heartfelt message shared with Education News, Abincha reflected on the profound loss, mentioning that this tragedy follows closely on the heels of another – the untimely death of Rianyabaro Secondary School Principal, Shem Abere, in a tragic road accident just a week prior.
“I learned with a lot of grief and shock of the untimely passing on of Madam Ednah Naliaka, Deputy Principal of Nyagichenche Secondary School,” Abincha expressed. His words echoed the collective sorrow and disbelief of the teaching fraternity in Kisii County.
In an emotional display of solidarity and remembrance, students of Nyagichenche Secondary School gathered on Monday to honor Madam Naliaka. During the morning parade, they sang the mournful song “Ewe Mungu, unajua sababu mbona niyapitie haya” (God, you know the reason for my tribulations), encapsulating their shared grief and search for solace.
Abincha extended heartfelt condolences to Madam Naliaka’s family on behalf of the KUPPET leadership and the entire teaching community. He emphasized the loss of a dedicated educator and administrator, whose contributions to the school and the broader educational landscape were deeply valued.
“We have lost a devoted teacher and a committed administrator. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family. May God comfort them and grant them the strength to endure this sorrowful moment,” Abincha stated.
In these trying times, Abincha called on the teaching fraternity to remain united and supportive of one another, underscoring the importance of being a brother’s keeper during both periods of abundance and adversity.
The loss of Madam Ednah Naliaka marks a significant and sorrowful chapter for Nyagichenche Secondary School. As the community mourns her passing, her legacy as a dedicated educator and beloved administrator will undoubtedly endure in the hearts and minds of those she touched.
