Kenya has made significant strides in the fight against HIV/AIDS, but challenges remain in achieving the goal of zero new infections.
As of the latest reports, Kenya has an estimated 1.5 million people living with HIV. The country has seen a reduction in new infections and AIDS-related deaths due to improved access to antiretroviral therapy (ART).
Key interventions include widespread HIV testing and counseling, prevention of mother-to-child transmission programs, and increased access to ART. Efforts are also focused on high-risk groups, such as sex workers .
Stigma and discrimination continue to hinder progress. Ensuring that all populations have access to prevention and treatment services, and addressing social and structural barriers, are essential to overcoming the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Kenya.
