Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogemba officially released the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results on Thursday, marking the end of the exam process for over 965,000 candidates. The results, which were eagerly awaited by both students and their families, can be accessed online through a link on the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) website: https://results.knec.ac.ke.
To check their results, candidates need to visit the KNEC website and input their index number along with any of their names as per the registration data. This process is designed to be simple and convenient for students, allowing them to access their performance on their smartphones. The release of the results, however, was accompanied by some technical challenges. According to reports, the KNEC website experienced difficulties and was temporarily down shortly after the announcement, which left some students unable to access their results.
For candidates facing challenges in accessing their results, KNEC has provided a toll-free support line. Students can call 0800724900 or 0800721410 for assistance with any issues related to retrieving their results.
The 2024 KCSE exams saw a significant milestone in terms of gender representation. For the first time in the history of the KCSE, female candidates outnumbered their male counterparts, with 482,202 female candidates and 480,310 male candidates. The exam results also revealed that 1,693 candidates scored grade A, while 246,339 candidates attained the minimum university entry grade of C+ and above, representing 25.53% of the total number of candidates.
Unfortunately, the results also highlighted cases of exam irregularities. A total of 840 candidates had their results cancelled, while 2,829 other candidates are under investigation for suspected involvement in exam malpractices. Their results will be withheld pending the completion of investigations, which KNEC expects to conclude within 30 days.
Despite the technical glitches and incidents of exam malpractices, the 2024 KCSE results offer an insight into the academic performance of the candidates, and the support lines ensure that every candidate can get their results with ease.
