The Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) has expressed its readiness to assist the United States in combating the catastrophic wildfires currently ravaging Los Angeles County. These fires have devastated more than 12,300 structures and claimed at least 11 lives as of Friday.
On Saturday, IRCS President Pirhossein Kolivand sent a message to Cliff Holtz, CEO of the American Red Cross, offering to dispatch specialized rapid reaction teams, rescue equipment, and trained personnel. Kolivand conveyed deep sympathy for the victims and emphasized that the wildfires have not only wreaked havoc in the U.S. but also left a “wound on the human conscience,” affecting compassionate people worldwide.
“The scale of this disaster, which has destroyed homes, endangered lives, and turned beautiful landscapes into ashes, demands global cooperation,” Kolivand stated. He assured the American Red Cross that Iran stands prepared to offer its resources and expertise to assist in controlling the fires.
Drawing on years of experience in responding to natural disasters, Kolivand highlighted the IRCS’s capability to provide swift and effective relief. “We are ready to mobilize our teams immediately and are awaiting your response to coordinate efforts,” he added.
The wildfires, described by officials as some of the worst in the region’s history, have displaced thousands and turned vibrant communities into desolate ruins. The true extent of the tragedy remains unclear as investigators have yet to access many affected neighborhoods.
Kolivand’s offer underscores the necessity of transcending political differences during crises of this magnitude. While the U.S. and Iran have had strained relations, this gesture highlights the universal nature of humanitarian aid.
Experts warn that the wildfires could worsen with ongoing drought conditions and high winds in the area. International cooperation, such as the aid proposed by Iran, could play a critical role in containing the fires and mitigating their impact.
As Los Angeles County continues to battle the infernos, the global community watches, hoping for swift action and recovery in the face of this devastating natural disaster.
