Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers in Isinya successfully recovered nine live sheep and the vehicle used by rustlers after an intense chase that spanned several hours. The incident unfolded at around 2 am along the Isinya-Namanga road, demonstrating the unwavering dedication and quick response of the local law enforcement.
While on routine patrol, the DCI officers noticed a suspicious motor vehicle and signaled the driver to stop. Ignoring the command, the driver accelerated towards Isinya, prompting the officers to engage in a high-speed pursuit. The chase led them through Isinya town and onto Kiserian road, eventually passing Birika market before the driver diverted onto a Murram road.
The relentless pursuit culminated when the vehicle came to a halt approximately 800 meters down the Murram road. At this point, three individuals emerged from the vehicle, registration number KCY 801J, and dispersed in different directions under the cover of darkness. Despite the officers’ best efforts, no arrests were made at the scene.
Upon inspecting the abandoned vehicle, which still had its engine running, the officers discovered nine live sheep crammed inside. Further examination of the vehicle revealed two metal rods, two jackets, and two torches, indicating the preparedness and intent of the rustlers.
Isinya OCPD Patrick Manyasi commented on the successful recovery, praising the officers for their vigilance and swift action. “Upon searching the abandoned vehicle, whose engine was still running, they found nine live sheep and on further search, they found two metal rods, two jackets, and two torches,” Manyasi stated. The recovered vehicle and livestock were subsequently taken to the Isinya Police Station for further investigation and processing.
This incident underscores the ongoing issue of livestock theft in the region and highlights the importance of continued vigilance and collaboration between the community and law enforcement agencies. The DCI in Isinya remains committed to curbing such criminal activities and ensuring the safety and security of residents and their property.
As the investigation continues, the police urge anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the suspects to come forward. Community cooperation is vital in bringing the perpetrators to justice and preventing future incidents of livestock theft.
The recovery of the stolen sheep and vehicle serves as a testament to the effectiveness of the DCI’s patrol efforts and their resolve to maintain law and order in Isinya and surrounding areas.
