Kajiado County, has left a local community in shock after the body of a 52-year-old businesswoman, Jennifer Saverio Kagwiria, was discovered on Saturday, November 16. Kagwiria was found in her bedroom by officers from the Oloosirkon Police Station, having suffered multiple deep cuts to her head, right hand, mouth, chin, belly, and throat, suggesting a brutal and violent attack.
The discovery of her lifeless body, lying in a pool of blood, has prompted an intense investigation by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Isinya, as detectives work tirelessly to uncover the circumstances surrounding her murder. The police have identified Elvis Nyangau, a man believed to be involved in the crime, as a key suspect. However, Nyangau remains at large, and authorities are actively pursuing him, though his whereabouts remain unknown.
What has further complicated the investigation is the absence of the murder weapon, which has not been recovered. The police have not ruled out the possibility that the weapon could be a sharp object, given the nature of the injuries sustained by Kagwiria. The absence of the weapon, along with the disappearance of the suspect, has created a cloud of uncertainty over the case, but detectives are focused on gathering more evidence and leads to bring those responsible to justice.
Further adding to the mystery is the fact that Kagwiria’s phone numbers are currently off, and no communication has been received from her known contacts. This lack of contact is seen as highly suspicious, and investigators are keenly analyzing her recent interactions to identify any potential motives or individuals who may have been involved in the crime.
At the crime scene, officers from the Oloosirkon Police Station thoroughly documented and processed the evidence. Kagwiria’s body was later transported to the Nairobi Funeral Home, where a postmortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death. This examination is expected to provide crucial information that could lead investigators closer to identifying the killer.
The case has garnered significant attention due to the brutal nature of the crime and the mystery surrounding the suspect’s escape. The police are urging anyone with information about the case to come forward, as they continue to piece together the details of the incident. The authorities are hopeful that the community will cooperate, offering crucial tips or information that could aid in the search for Nyangau.
The investigation into Kagwiria’s murder is just one example of a growing trend in the country, as murder cases have seen a slight uptick in recent years. According to the Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, a comparative analysis of murder cases reported from August to October 2022-2024 indicates a marginal increase in killings. In 2024 alone, a total of 339 murder cases have been reported, compared to 336 cases in 2023 and 341 cases in 2022. This increase in homicides has prompted law enforcement agencies to heighten their efforts in solving such crimes and ensuring justice for victims and their families.
As detectives in Kajiado work diligently to bring the perpetrator of this brutal crime to justice, the community remains on edge, hoping for a resolution. The authorities are determined to close this case, and the search for Elvis Nyangau continues as the police focus on unraveling the mystery surrounding Jennifer Saverio Kagwiria’s untimely and tragic death.
