Kenya Airports Authority Achieves Carbon Accreditation Milestone, Seeks Public Input for Further Progress

The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) is proud to announce that four of our airports—Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), Moi International Airport (MIA), Eldoret International Airport (EIA), and Kisumu International Airport (KIA)—have achieved Level 2 (Reduction) Airport Carbon Accreditation from the Airport Council International (ACI). This global initiative helps airports measure, manage, and reduce their carbon emissions, marking a significant step in our commitment to sustainability.

Our journey doesn’t stop here. We are now striving to reach Level 3 (Optimization and Stakeholder Engagement) for these airports, which involves a deeper integration of carbon reduction efforts and collaboration with all airport stakeholders. To achieve this, we need your help!

We are gathering data on the means of transport used by passengers to access our airports. Your input is crucial for accurately calculating our carbon emissions and helping us achieve our sustainability goals.

How You Can Help

Please take a few moments to share information about your journey to the airport, including:

  • The type of transport you used (e.g., private car, taxi, bus, train)
  • The distance traveled
  • Any additional relevant details

Your participation will directly contribute to our efforts in optimizing carbon reduction and engaging with our community to build a more sustainable future.

Thank you for your support and cooperation in making our airports greener and more environmentally friendly.
