Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has expressed his gratitude to President William Ruto for appointing him to lead the Ministry of Health. This marks the third ministry he has been entrusted with since Ruto’s administration took office.
In a statement, Duale conveyed his appreciation for the trust and confidence placed in him, emphasizing his commitment to enhancing healthcare services across Kenya.
“I am deeply grateful to H.E. President William Ruto for his trust and confidence in appointing me to lead the Ministry of Health. It has been an honour serving at the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change & Forestry, where we advanced key environmental and climate action policies,” Duale stated.
He acknowledged the critical role of healthcare in national prosperity and pledged to work with various stakeholders to strengthen service delivery. He highlighted Universal Health Coverage (UHC) as a priority, ensuring equitable healthcare access, particularly for vulnerable communities.
“The prosperity of a nation depends on the health of its people. In my new role, I remain committed to working with relevant stakeholders in driving government policies that strengthen healthcare delivery, ensuring accessible and quality services for all Kenyans. A key priority will be advancing Universal Health Coverage (UHC) to guarantee equitable healthcare access, especially for vulnerable populations,” he said.
Duale further noted that healthcare is a central pillar of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) and promised to enhance inter-ministerial collaboration to improve service delivery.
His reassignment to the Health Ministry was part of a cabinet reshuffle by President Ruto on Wednesday. In the same changes, Deborah Barasa was appointed the new Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change & Forestry, while Mbeere North MP Geoffrey Ruku was nominated as the Public Service and Human Capital Development CS. Additionally, Hanna Cheptumo was nominated as the CS for Gender, Culture, The Arts, and Heritage.
This marks the fourth time President Ruto has reshuffled his Cabinet since assuming office in 2022, reflecting his strategic realignment to optimize governance and service delivery.
