Dagoretti North MP Beatrice Elachi has shared heartbreaking details about the accident that claimed the life of her son, Elvis Murakana Namenya. Speaking during his memorial service at Holy Trinity Church in Kileleshwa, Elachi recounted the tragic events leading to his passing.
According to the MP, Elvis was in bed at 10:30 p.m. when he received a call for an errand. While driving back home, his car suffered a tire burst, causing him to lose control. Elachi used the moment to caution drivers, advising against using emergency brakes during such incidents.
“When a car gets a tire burst, do not break the emergency brakes. The car will skid, and that’s where you will find yourself in crisis,” she warned. “What you do is hold on to the steering and pray that the car comes to a stop.”
Unfortunately, the accident caused severe injuries to Elvis, leading to his tragic demise. Elachi revealed that she had a deep realization that her son was not going to make it.
“On Saturday, I looked at him in the ICU, and I knew he was going to heaven,” she said. “I didn’t even tell the doctors, but I could just see it.”
Elachi described Elvis as a quiet yet passionate young man who loved church, music, and football. His deep faith was evident in his commitment to the Holy Trinity Church, where he was well known.
During her eulogy, Elachi also took the opportunity to speak about the challenges young people face today. She noted that many in the current generation struggle to share their problems and urged them to open up to their parents for guidance.
“As mothers, let us pray for this generation. It is a very tough generation that needs a lot of prayers,” she emphasized.
She also urged parents to pray for their children’s safety, including their journeys and vehicles.
Elvis will be laid to rest on Saturday at the family home in Nalepo Village, Kajiado County. His mother expressed gratitude to his friends for their prayers and support, wishing them success in their lives.
