Police in Kabete, Kiambu County, are investigating the brutal murder of a middle-aged woman, Naomi Chebet, whose body was discovered in her rental apartment on Saturday night. Authorities suspect her husband to be the perpetrator, and he is currently on the run.
Chebet, a mother of three and a 2021 graduate of a community catering course, was found dead with multiple injuries, including stab wounds and blunt force trauma. According to reports, she was last seen entering her apartment with the suspect on Saturday night, shortly before her tragic death.
The couple had recently reunited after months of separation, with the reconciliation being facilitated by Chebet’s brother. However, just an hour after they reunited, the suspect left the house at around 10:30 p.m. He later posted a cryptic message on Facebook, allegedly confessing to the crime, police said.
Authorities traced the suspect to Githurai 45 on Monday but have yet to make an arrest. The victim’s family is calling on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to expedite the process and bring the suspect to justice.
In a separate incident, a man was stabbed to death in Wajir following an argument. The victim, identified as 30-year-old Cyrus Munene Mboroki, was found in his rental house with stab wounds to the stomach and chest.
The assailant remains at large, and police have launched a manhunt for the suspect. The body has been moved to Wajir Referral Hospital mortuary, pending a post-mortem examination.
These cases add to the growing number of murder incidents in Kenya, sparking concerns over domestic violence and unresolved disputes. Authorities urge individuals to seek peaceful conflict resolution mechanisms to prevent such tragic outcomes.
Police confirm that many of these cases are under investigation, with several pending in court. A special unit within the Directorate of Criminal Investigations has been tasked with handling these cases, aiming to curb the rising trend of violent crimes.
The families of the victims continue to seek justice, as the police intensify their efforts to apprehend the suspects and ensure accountability for these heinous acts.
