Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has called on Kenyans to rally behind President William Ruto’s administration, pledging swift and citizen-centered service delivery. Speaking during an Easter Sunday service at Ítúgúrúrú Baptist Church in Chuka Igambang’ombe, Tharaka Nithi County, CS Ruku reaffirmed his commitment to transforming public service and supporting ongoing government initiatives.
In his first public address as CS, Ruku pointed to stalled projects that are now back on track under the Kenya Kwanza administration. He highlighted the ongoing Ítúgúrúrú-Mate Road and the fully funded Natasha Makena Hospital as examples of the government’s dedication to development and public welfare.
“The country was in bad shape when President Ruto took over. But today, projects that had stalled are now back on track,” said Ruku. He urged residents to remain patient and united, emphasizing that meaningful change requires collective effort and faith.
The CS assured citizens that his ministry would collaborate closely with all government departments to implement reforms aimed at boosting service delivery. “We will ensure the government serves the people efficiently. I will personally oversee that our systems function properly,” he vowed.
Ruku also encouraged citizens to register for the Social Health Authority (SHA), warning that failure to do so could pose health risks. He expressed confidence in the SHA system’s progress, despite early implementation challenges.
Chuka Igambang’ombe MP Patrick Munene lauded Ruto for appointing Ruku, describing him as an accessible leader committed to grassroots engagement. Munene emphasized that the Mt. Kenya East region remains firmly behind the Kenya Kwanza government due to ongoing development efforts.
Ruku also took aim at political detractors, urging the public not to be swayed by critics lacking constructive alternatives. He emphasized the importance of civil servant accountability, warning that those who fail to deliver would face legal consequences.
Mt. Kenya Baptist Church Moderator Albert Gitonga called for unity between the Church and government, urging leaders and citizens to engage in dialogue rather than public humiliation when issues arise.
Ruku concluded by calling for continued support for President Ruto, stating that a performing administration deserves the opportunity to complete its agenda.
