Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen paid a consoling visit to Dagoretti North Member of Parliament Beatrice Elachi on Thursday evening following the tragic passing of her son, Elvis Murakana. Murkomen expressed his heartfelt sympathies and offered support to the grieving lawmaker during this difficult time.
In an emotional moment captured in photos, Murkomen and Elachi shared a warm embrace as he extended his condolences. “This evening, I condoled with my sister, Hon. Beatrice Elachi, following the tragic loss of her son Elvis Murakana. May God give her and her family the grace to go through this very difficult period of bereavement,” the CS stated.
Elvis, a Business Studies student at Africa Nazarene University, was set to graduate in June 2025. His untimely demise occurred after a road accident on March 18 in Kasarani. Reports indicate that Elvis had left home for errands and was driving back when his car suffered a tyre burst along Thika Road. The vehicle veered off the road and collided with the guardrails.
Police responding to the accident found Elvis unconscious and rushed him to AAR Hospital for urgent medical care. He was placed in the Intensive Care Unit, where he underwent emergency surgeries. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, his condition remained critical, and he eventually succumbed to cardiac arrest after a week of intensive care.
The devastating loss has drawn widespread condolences from leaders across the country, including President William Ruto, who expressed his support for the Elachi family. The tragedy has highlighted the need for improved road safety measures to prevent such incidents.
Elvis Murakana will be laid to rest on Saturday, March 29, at the family home in Nalepo Village, Kajiado County. Family, friends, and leaders are expected to gather to honor his memory and celebrate his life.
As the Elachi family mourns this heartbreaking loss, Kenyans continue to extend their thoughts and prayers, hoping they find strength and solace in this period of grief.
