Dagoretti North MP Beatrice Elachi’s son, Elvis Murakana, will be laid to rest on Saturday, March 29, at the family home in Nalepo Village, Kajiado County. The cortege is set to leave Lee Funeral Home at 7 a.m., with the burial ceremony commencing at 10 a.m.
A memorial service in honor of Elvis will be held at Holy Trinity Church in Kileleshwa on Friday, March 28, starting at 10 a.m. Family, friends, and well-wishers will gather to pay their last respects to a young man whose life was tragically cut short.
Elvis was a Business Studies student at Africa Nazarene University and was set to graduate in June 2025. He was a cherished brother and cousin to Silvia, Kelvin, Mwangi, Jemimah, Alex, Tony, Moses, Lauryn, and Faith, and a loving uncle to Zenna, Tamika, Zack, and Kaimani. He was also a beloved nephew and a friend to many.
Elvis’ untimely death followed a tragic road accident. On Tuesday, March 18, he had left home for errands in Kasarani when his vehicle suffered a tyre burst along Thika Road while he was driving back. The car veered off the road and collided with the guardrails, leaving him unconscious.
Police officers who arrived at the scene rushed him to AAR Hospital, where he was placed in the Intensive Care Unit. Despite undergoing emergency surgeries, Elvis succumbed to cardiac arrest after spending a week in intensive care.
The tragic loss has drawn condolences from national leaders, including President William Ruto, who offered words of comfort to Elachi and her family. “Be comforted by the word of the Lord in Psalm 147:3: ‘He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds,’” the President said.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), Elachi’s political party, also expressed its condolences, emphasizing the immense loss she has suffered. Kileleshwa Ward MCA Robert Alai echoed these sentiments, describing the pain of losing a child as unimaginable.
As the family prepares to lay Elvis to rest, Kenyans continue to send messages of support, standing with Elachi in her moment of grief.
