Dagoretti North MP Beatrice Elachi has paid a heartfelt tribute to her late son, Elvis Murakana Namenya, remembering him as a young man deeply passionate about church, music, and football.
Speaking during his memorial service at Holy Trinity Church in Kileleshwa, Elachi described Elvis as an introverted but devoted individual who found joy in worship and sports. She expressed gratitude for the support and prayers from family, friends, and the church community during this difficult time.
“One thing I will tell you, he loved this church. And even when I come to church, if you ask the people of Holy Trinity, I’ve never come as Mheshimiwa,” she said, emphasizing their family’s strong Christian foundation.
Elachi offered prayers for her son’s soul, hoping he would find eternal peace in heaven. She also encouraged Elvis’s friends to stay committed to their dreams, particularly as they approached their graduation.
“You are going to graduate, all of you, and in that graduation, may angels open doors for you,” she said.
Tragic Road Accident
Elvis, a Business Studies student at Africa Nazarene University, was eagerly anticipating his graduation in June 2025. However, his promising future was tragically cut short following a road accident on March 18.
On that fateful day, he had left home to run errands in Kasarani. While driving back, his car suffered a tyre burst along Thika Road, causing it to veer off the road and collide with the guardrails. When police arrived at the scene, Elvis was found unconscious and was immediately rushed to AAR Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit. Despite doctors’ efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries.
Final Journey
Elvis will be laid to rest on Saturday at the family home in Nalepo Village, Kajiado County. The cortege is set to leave Lee Funeral Home at 7 am, with the burial service scheduled to begin at 10 am.
Elachi’s tribute painted a picture of a young man who lived with faith and passion, leaving a lasting impact on those who knew him.
