Kirima village in Ngaru location, Kirinyaga County, is mourning the tragic loss of 26-year-old Lisper Ng’endo, whose life was cut short under shocking circumstances. What was supposed to be a visit to her longtime boyfriend in Nairobi turned into a nightmare, leaving her family searching for answers and justice.
Ng’endo left her home on the afternoon of Saturday, February 1, 2025, after receiving a call from her boyfriend. She traveled from Kerugoya to Nairobi, keeping in touch with her sister, Caroline Wandia, until she reached her destination at around 8 p.m. That was the last time the family heard from her. Her phone went off soon after, and days of agonizing silence followed.
Four days later, the family received devastating news. Ng’endo’s body had been discovered in Kajiado, and the suspect her boyfriend of over six years had allegedly confessed to the murder before disappearing.
“I couldn’t believe it when I saw my daughter’s body at the city mortuary, covered in serious injuries,” said her grief-stricken father, James Munene. “He must be found and arrested. He cannot just walk free after taking my daughter’s life.”
The family had believed the man was a senior officer at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Nairobi, only to learn that he was actually working as a shamba boy in Kajiado. His deception ran deep—just days before admitting to the crime, he had told them he was in the United States.
The betrayal is all the more painful because the two families had been preparing for a marriage. The suspect had visited Ng’endo’s home in Kirima multiple times, and she had also met his family in Kericho.
“She had her own shop here at home. She had a future. Why did he do this to her?” Wandia asked, struggling to make sense of the tragedy.
As the family prepares for Ng’endo’s burial, the weight of grief is compounded by unanswered questions and a desperate need for justice. Villagers, friends, and neighbors have rallied around the family, demanding action from law enforcement to track down the suspect.
“She went to Nairobi out of love,” said Elias Muriuki, a neighbor. “How did love turn into such cruelty?”
For Ng’endo’s family, time has stood still since that fateful day. They await justice, hoping that the law will catch up with the man who shattered their lives.
