Nairobi was rocked by a series of tragic incidents on Monday as three separate cases of sudden death were reported in different parts of the city. The deaths, which occurred in Embakasi, Ziwani, and Pangani, have raised concerns over the increasing number of fatal accidents and unexplained deaths in urban areas.
Embakasi Tragedy: Man Falls from Fourth Floor
A social gathering turned into a nightmare when 35-year-old Philip Kibet lost his life after falling from the fourth floor of an apartment in Embakasi. According to witnesses, Kibet was enjoying drinks with friends when he leaned on the balcony railing, which gave way, causing him to plummet to the ground. He landed headfirst, sustaining fatal injuries.
Bystanders who heard a loud thud rushed to the scene, only to find Kibet lying motionless with blood oozing from his mouth and ears. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, but doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. The couple hosting the gathering cooperated with authorities, stating that Kibet’s fall was purely accidental.
Police have launched an investigation to determine whether there were any safety lapses or external factors contributing to the fall. The body has since been moved to the mortuary for an autopsy.
Ziwani Mystery: Woman Found Dead in Her Room
In another tragic turn of events, 41-year-old Caroline Wendi was discovered dead in her single-room residence in Ziwani. Earlier in the evening, Wendi had requested her neighbor to prepare porridge for her, hinting at possible health issues. When the neighbor returned with the porridge, they found her unresponsive.
Authorities were notified, and upon arrival, they confirmed Wendi had passed away. Her cause of death remains unknown, prompting the police to initiate an investigation. An autopsy is scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.
Pangani Incident: Construction Worker Collapses and Dies
Meanwhile, in Pangani, a construction worker, Michael Lenga, also aged 35, met an untimely demise while on duty. Lenga, who was working on laying tiles at a construction site, suddenly collapsed and started bleeding from the nose. Despite efforts to rush him to the hospital, he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Authorities are awaiting post-mortem results to ascertain the cause of his sudden collapse.
