Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has announced that he will present an interim report on Sunday, February 9, regarding the feedback he has received from his ongoing consultations with leaders and religious figures from across Kenya. Gachagua has been hosting a series of discussions at his Wamunyoro home, gathering diverse opinions on how to address the nation’s challenges and chart a path forward.
Initially, Gachagua had promised to provide the feedback by December 31, 2024, but he cited the overwhelming response as the reason for the delay. He noted that while he had expected mainly individuals from Mt. Kenya to participate, people from all regions of the country have been showing up, leading him to extend the consultations to ensure no voices are left unheard. In his address, he sought forgiveness for the slight delay in the report but assured that the insights gathered were invaluable and needed more time for proper reflection.
During a recent church service at Almighty God Ministries Church in Mathioya, Murang’a County, Gachagua emphasized the importance of continued dialogue. “I will find time and give out the report on the feedback,” he said. “I have been receiving overwhelming responses, which is why it took longer than expected.” The former DP also stated that his consultations would continue as he believes in the importance of involving Kenyans in solving the nation’s challenges.
On Saturday, Gachagua met with a delegation from Samburu County, underscoring his belief that the solutions to Kenya’s problems lie within its citizens. He was particularly impressed by the practical suggestions from the people, indicating that ordinary Kenyans already have a clear understanding of the issues at hand and how to address them.
The consultations, which have been a key aspect of Gachagua’s post-deputy presidency activities, are being seen as an important step toward shaping Kenya’s political future. Despite being impeached in October 2024, Gachagua remains active in political affairs, positioning himself as a key figure for the 2027 elections. His home has become a central hub for political discussions, with delegations from various counties, particularly from Mt Kenya, coming to strategize and exchange views.
As Gachagua prepares to present his interim report, it is clear that his efforts to engage with Kenyans from all walks of life are laying the groundwork for a broader national conversation on how the country can move forward.
