Kitui County Senator Enoch Wambua has expressed strong confidence that Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka is the politician best positioned to challenge President William Ruto for the presidency in the 2027 General Election. Wambua, a prominent ally of Kalonzo, believes that the former Vice President possesses the political clout and broad support base required to unseat Ruto and secure the country’s top seat.
Wambua emphasized that Kalonzo, after years of supporting other candidates, is ready to launch his presidential bid in 2027. According to the senator, Kalonzo’s years of political experience and widespread support across the country uniquely place him in a strong position to face Ruto in what promises to be a tough contest.
“Kalonzo is the only leader who can send Ruto home in 2027,” Wambua asserted. His endorsement of Kalonzo’s candidacy is a reflection of the Wiper leader’s growing appeal, particularly within the opposition ranks, where many believe he can rally a coalition of like-minded leaders to challenge the current administration.
The senator also noted that Kalonzo’s bid for the presidency will not be deterred by his strong ties with other key opposition figures, such as former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua, and Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa. Kalonzo has hinted at the formation of a mass coalition made up of these leaders, many of whom were pivotal in the political landscape of the 2002 elections, when the National Rainbow Coalition (NARC) helped propel President Mwai Kibaki to power.
In the coming years, Gachagua has indicated that the opposition will unveil a strategic plan to challenge Ruto’s administration, with Kalonzo playing a central role in the decision-making process. This growing opposition alliance, reminiscent of the 2002 political synergy, is set to redefine Kenya’s political dynamics in the lead-up to the 2027 elections. With figures like Gachagua, Karua, and Wamalwa on his side, Kalonzo’s presidential bid may just have the momentum it needs to make a serious impact.
