Kenya Kwanza political allies are set to hold two major harambee fundraisers in Kisii and Eldoret as part of a push to support key community development initiatives. The events will take place in Marani, Kisii County, and Kapseret, Eldoret, with high-profile MPs and leaders from the ruling coalition leading the charge. These fundraisers are part of a broader strategy by Kenya Kwanza to amplify public support and foster closer ties with local communities.
In Kisii, the harambee is set to support Marani Catholic Parish in Kitutu Chache North, a region represented by UDA National Treasurer Japhet Nyakundi. This event marks the first major Kenya Kwanza-led fundraiser in Kisii and is seen as a strategic move to bolster political influence in the area, especially in light of former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i’s rising political influence in the region.
The fundraiser will bring together a host of political heavyweights, including Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba, UDA Secretary-General Hassan Omar, and at least 30 MPs from the ruling coalition. Notable leaders such as Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot, National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, and Majority Whip Sylvanus Osoro are also expected to attend, alongside Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, who has been a frequent presence at fundraising events across the country.
In Eldoret, the focus will be on ACK Tumaini Church, located in Sudi’s Kapseret constituency. The event will see the participation of prominent governors such as Kakamega’s Fernandes Barasa, Uasin Gishu’s Jonathan Bii, and others from Nandi, Elgeyo Marakwet, Kericho, and Turkana counties. Education PS Julius Bitok and Immigration PS Belio Kipsang will also grace the occasion, ensuring wide representation from both the national and local government.
These harambees underscore the increasing political realignments within the ruling coalition, with Kenya Kwanza leaders working hard to solidify their influence and support ahead of future political challenges.
