Deputy Chief of Staff in the Office of the President, Eliud Owalo, has reaffirmed that the Kenya Kwanza government is on the right path in delivering its promises to Kenyans. Speaking in Rarieda sub-county on Sunday, Owalo stated that the government remains committed to fulfilling its manifesto and ensuring service delivery to citizens.
According to Owalo, a recent mid-term review assessing the implementation of the administration’s development programs revealed notable milestones achieved since President William Ruto took office. He highlighted key areas where significant progress has been made, including economic recovery, affordable housing, employment creation, and universal health coverage.
One of the key achievements Owalo cited is the reduction in the cost of living, which he attributed to government initiatives aimed at reviving crucial sectors of the economy. He noted that the prices of farm inputs have decreased, as promised during the 2022 campaigns, making farming more affordable and productive for Kenyan farmers.
Additionally, Owalo pointed out that the Kenya Kwanza government has successfully constructed over 130,000 houses under the affordable housing programme, a flagship initiative aimed at providing decent homes to Kenyans while also generating employment opportunities. He noted that over 200,000 jobs have been created through the initiative, contributing to the country’s economic growth.
To support micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), Owalo emphasized that the government has released over Ksh.50 billion towards the Hustler Fund, a financial inclusion program designed to provide affordable credit to small-scale entrepreneurs. He reiterated that the fund has played a critical role in empowering businesses and boosting economic activities across the country.
Furthermore, Owalo highlighted the government’s strides in implementing Universal Health Coverage (UHC) through the establishment of the Social Health Authority (SHA). He urged Kenyans to continue supporting President Ruto’s administration as it rolls out more initiatives to improve healthcare accessibility and affordability.
As the Kenya Kwanza government approaches the halfway mark of its term, Owalo reassured citizens that more developments are on the way, emphasizing the administration’s dedication to delivering its promises and transforming the country’s socio-economic landscape.
