A day after chaos engulfed Kutus market, sparked by a brutal attack on a middle-aged man over a Ksh.50 debt, the victim, Jepither Muthii, has spoken out from his hospital bed at Kerugoya County Referral Hospital.
Muthii, who is still in immense pain, underwent a complex scrotum reconstruction surgery following the shocking assault allegedly perpetrated by a local butcher, Isaac Gachoka. Speaking with difficulty and tears in his eyes, Muthii recounted the horrifying ordeal that almost claimed his life.
On Friday, Muthii had gone to Gachoka’s butchery to request his balance of Ksh.50 after working for him. However, instead of settling the debt, Gachoka reportedly dragged Muthii inside his shop and attacked him viciously, repeatedly stabbing his genitals.
“Jamaa alinivuta kwa nguvu ndani akaanza kuniumiza sehemu ya chini hadi ikatokana yote,” narrated Muthii, struggling to hold back tears.
Doctors at the hospital confirmed that his scrotum was severely injured, exposing his testicles. Jane Muchoki, a nurse at the facility, revealed that surgeons had successfully reconstructed his scrotum, stabilizing his condition. However, his road to full recovery remains uncertain, and he faces mounting medical bills.
“He came to this facility with serious wounds and after operation we have managed to rectify the scrotum,” said Nurse Muchoki. “There was a cut at the scrotum exposing the testis, but for now his genitals are safe.”
As he lies in bed, helpless and uncertain about his future, Muthii is appealing for justice and financial help.
“Mwenye alinifanyia hivyo naomba atafutwe ndio akuje anilipie bill sababu sina uwezo,” he pleaded.
The incident ignited a wave of outrage among residents of Kutus, who took to the streets demanding justice. Enraged locals stormed Gachoka’s butchery, vandalizing his business premises before engaging the police in running battles. Law enforcement officers struggled to contain the chaos as emotions ran high.
Authorities have since launched a manhunt for Gachoka, who fled the scene and remains at large. A multi-agency security team has been deployed to track him down and bring him to justice.
As Muthii fights for his recovery, the case has sparked widespread debate on violence, debt disputes, and justice in local communities. Residents continue to call for swift legal action, hoping that no other individual will endure such a brutal fate over a minor financial disagreement.
