The Institute for African Women in Law (IAWL) has named Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Faith Odhiambo among the 25 most inspiring women of 2025. This recognition highlights her outstanding leadership in restoring the integrity, influence, and stature of LSK while championing justice, constitutionalism, and the rule of law.
Odhiambo, the second female president in LSK’s history, assumed office in March 2024, succeeding Eric Theuri. Since taking the helm as the 51st president of the society, she has demonstrated commitment to ethical leadership, strategic advocacy, and proactive governance. Her efforts have reinforced LSK’s role as a critical institution in Kenya’s legal and justice system.
According to IAWL, Odhiambo’s leadership is defined by her unwavering dedication to integrity, excellence, and collaboration. Her recognition comes as a result of her resilience, adaptability, and ability to forge strategic partnerships. Throughout her career, she has faced numerous challenges but has remained steadfast in upholding the principles of justice and human rights.
Odhiambo’s impact extends beyond her role in LSK. She has been instrumental in evidence-based advocacy, ensuring legal reforms align with Kenya’s constitutional framework. Additionally, she has mentored young legal professionals, empowering them to embrace ethical leadership and contribute positively to the profession.
Expressing gratitude for the honor, Odhiambo acknowledged the inspiration drawn from other phenomenal women featured in the IAWL magazine. She emphasized that leadership should be driven by service rather than personal recognition.
“The reflections are not only depictive of excellence but also pose a challenge to every aspiring leader, regardless of gender, to exert their efforts in service that supersedes individual advancement or recognition,” she stated.
As part of her leadership philosophy, Odhiambo encourages young leaders to prioritize ethical governance, invest in continuous learning, build strong networks, embrace challenges, and advocate for positive change. Her journey serves as a testament to the power of integrity, vision, and purpose in shaping transformative leadership.
Her recognition by IAWL solidifies her status as a trailblazer in Kenya’s legal sector, inspiring the next generation of leaders to uphold justice and the rule of law.
