Police and local authorities have launched an investigation following the tragic death of 37-year-old Kevin Ouma in what is believed to be a love triangle dispute in North East Kadem, Nyatike Sub County. Ouma was killed on the night of March 31, 2025, after a violent confrontation with Johnson Ochieng, another man reportedly involved with the same woman.
According to Area Chief Voshastar Akal, the altercation occurred at the woman’s home, where both men had been secretly involved with her, despite her being married. Ouma had reportedly arranged to meet the woman that evening, and shortly after his arrival, Ochieng arrived at the same location. The two men, armed with crude weapons, engaged in a heated argument, which quickly escalated into violence. During the altercation, Ouma was stabbed in the chest and succumbed to his injuries shortly after. Ochieng also sustained severe injuries during the fight and is currently receiving treatment at Migori Level Four Hospital.
The situation took a dramatic turn when the deceased’s family, upon hearing of his death, stormed the woman’s home and set it on fire in a fit of rage. The woman, whose identity has not been revealed, is married to a man working outside Migori County and is currently at the center of the investigation.
Chief Akal confirmed that police, in collaboration with the provincial administration, are actively investigating the incident. Authorities are focusing on the circumstances surrounding the fatal fight and the underlying relationship dynamics that led to the violent confrontation.
As the investigation continues, authorities are urging the public to remain calm and allow the law to take its course, with the hope of bringing clarity to this tragic incident.
