A tragic incident has shocked residents of Meru County after a man allegedly hacked his wife to death and dumped her body under a culvert along Therone-Kiuma Murram road. The brutal act followed a heated domestic argument between the couple on the night of Monday, March 24.
According to witnesses, the couple was last seen engaged in a dispute while heading home from Therone market in Ikuua. Reports indicate that the suspect, who was armed with a panga, turned on his wife in the cover of darkness, inflicting fatal cuts on her neck before fleeing the scene.
Local residents woke up to a horrifying sight of the lifeless body of the 45-year-old woman, who was a mother and a well-known figure in the community. The suspect remains at large, with detectives intensifying their efforts to bring him to justice. Police have yet to establish the motive behind the gruesome act but are pursuing all leads.
Meanwhile, in Suneka, Kisii County, another chilling discovery was made when a decomposing body of a man was found hanging from a tree. The body had a mosquito net material tied around the neck, raising suspicions of foul play. Upon examination, authorities noted severe injuries on the head and that the eyes had been gouged out. Police suspect that the murder occurred elsewhere before the body was moved to the scene. The remains were transferred to Ogembo Hospital Mortuary for postmortem and identification as investigations continue.
In a separate incident in the same region, 55-year-old Charles Ombongi Onsarigo collapsed and died in his house on March 22. The cause of death remains unknown, and his body was taken to a local mortuary pending an autopsy.
Elsewhere in Butere, Kakamega County, the body of 18-year-old Eric Abuye Mahuyu was found along Sabatia-Bululu road in Emasinde village. He had sustained multiple deep cuts to the head and body, indicating a violent attack. However, the lack of bloodstains or a weapon at the scene suggests that he was murdered elsewhere and later dumped in the area. Police are investigating the case, but no arrests have been made so far.
The series of violent deaths across different counties has left many residents in shock, highlighting the need for strengthened security measures and swift justice for the victims. Authorities continue to urge the public to provide any relevant information that could aid in apprehending the perpetrators of these heinous crimes.
