President William Ruto has arrived in Meru County as part of his weeklong tour of the Mt Kenya region, where he is set to inspect, launch, and commission various development projects. His visit on Wednesday includes stops in Meru and Kirinyaga counties, marking a significant push in his administration’s efforts to address regional infrastructure and service delivery.
The Head of State began his engagements in Maua, Meru County, where he laid the foundation stone for a new Huduma Centre, aimed at enhancing access to government services for local residents. From there, he proceeded to Kiburi in Tigania West Constituency and Nkuene in South Imenti Constituency, reinforcing his commitment to grassroots development.
In Kirinyaga County, the President is expected to visit the Animal Health and Industry Training Institute (AHITI) Ndomba in Mwea Constituency and later tour Kagio Town in Kirinyaga Central Constituency. Accompanying him on this tour are Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki, and a host of regional leaders.
President Ruto’s visit to the Mt Kenya region, which began on Tuesday, will see him traverse nine counties, including Laikipia, Nyeri, Nyandarua, Murang’a, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi, and Kiambu, before concluding on Saturday. The tour aims to evaluate ongoing projects and outline his administration’s development agenda for the region.
During his stop in Nyeri and Laikipia counties on Tuesday, the President took the opportunity to address his political critics, particularly those positioning themselves for the 2027 general elections. Speaking at Ng’arachi Comprehensive School in Laikipia, Ruto challenged his opponents to present clear policies instead of engaging in negative rhetoric against his administration. He emphasized the need for unity and urged Mt Kenya residents to focus on economic and developmental growth rather than divisive politics.
As the President continues his tour, residents and leaders are keen to see how his engagements will translate into tangible benefits for the region. With key infrastructure and service delivery projects in focus, the tour could play a crucial role in shaping political and economic discourse in Mt Kenya ahead of the 2027 elections
