Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has urged Kenyans to support President William Ruto’s administration, emphasizing the importance of unity and dialogue in governance. Speaking at an Iftar fundraiser for the Malindi Education and Development Foundation (MEDA-F) at a Malindi hotel in Kilifi County, Mudavadi praised the cooperation between the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), saying it had eased governance and facilitated the correction of past mistakes.
“As Kenyans, let’s embrace unity and dialogue. That is why we have the broad-based government, and we want a broad-based government to pull together and offer solutions to Kenyans,” Mudavadi said.
During the event, he conveyed Ruto’s donation of Ksh 2 million and called on Kenyans to maintain peace, especially in light of conflicts in neighboring countries such as Sudan, South Sudan, Somalia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. He lauded Ruto’s efforts in spearheading peace initiatives across the region.
“We can disagree, and we must disagree from time to time, which is alright, but we should not fight. Let us work together, correct each other, and criticize each other, but let us be reasonable in what we do so that we move forward together,” he said.
Mudavadi also highlighted that the cooperation between Kenya Kwanza and ODM had strengthened the government’s position in the legislature, allowing for a more effective push for development policies. He termed the political collaboration as a ‘golden opportunity’ to shape the country’s future.
“We have a golden opportunity as Kenyans with the cooperation of Kenya Kwanza and ODM in the broad-based government. We have the greatest opportunity in a long time to correct and shape the agenda of this country for the better for many years to come,” he added.
Several leaders accompanied Mudavadi to the event, including Kilifi Deputy Governor Flora Chibule, Malindi MP Amina Mnyazi, Kilifi North MP Owen Baya, Garsen MP Ali Wario, UDA Secretary General Hassan Omar, and Principal Secretary nominee for Youth Affairs Fikirini Jacobs.
The leaders expressed their gratitude to the president for state appointments in the region, calling for continued unity among Kenyans. Kilifi North MP Owen Baya particularly noted the historical appointment of Fikirini Jacobs as the youngest Principal Secretary nominee since Kenneth Matiba, highlighting Ruto’s commitment to inclusivity in governance.
