Naivasha police officers have arrested a 30-year-old man and recovered two rounds of illegal ammunition in his possession. The suspect, identified as Bethwel Matu, was apprehended following an intelligence report about his suspicious activities in the area.
Authorities acted swiftly upon receiving the tip-off, tracking Matu to Nyama Choma Zone Bar in Kinamba, Naivasha. Officers descended on the location and conducted a search, leading to the discovery of one 7.62mm special round and one 9mm calibre bullet in his possession.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) confirmed the arrest and the seizure of the ammunition. “They descended on the location and apprehended the suspect. A thorough search revealed one 7.62mm special round and one 9mm calibre bullet in Matu’s possession,” the DCI noted.
Following his arrest, Matu was escorted to Naivasha Police Station, where he is currently being processed. He is expected to be arraigned in court as investigations continue to determine the source of the ammunition and whether he has links to any criminal activities.
