Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has opted to keep his next political steps under wraps following his recent removal as Chair of the Budget and Appropriations Committee. Speaking at a press conference at his KICC office on Tuesday, Nyoro expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead one of the National Assembly’s most influential committees but said he needed more time to assess his future direction.
His ouster, which many interpreted as a significant shift in his political relationship with President William Ruto, has fueled speculation about his next move. However, Nyoro chose to remain non-committal, stating that he was still in the process of understanding the situation.
“I would not want to discuss any leader further. I stopped serving in my position barely a week ago, and I still need to understand many things before I speak,” he said.
Acknowledging the growing anticipation from the public, Nyoro said he was aware of the many expectations regarding his response but emphasized that he would speak at the right moment.
“I know people have expectations about what I should say, when, and how. I receive messages every day advising me on what to do and how to do it,” he added.
The MP revealed that he had only learned of his removal through newspapers and that no one from the Kenya Kwanza leadership had reached out to discuss the matter with him. His position was subsequently filled by Alego Usonga MP Samuel Atandi, a member of the opposition ODM party.
Nyoro also addressed allegations that he had disproportionately allocated resources to his constituency while chairing the Budget Committee. He dismissed the claims and refused to engage in political attacks.
“I do not respond to evil with evil, nor do I answer insults with insults. In politics, you draw your line and decide what kind of politics you want to engage in,” he said.
His removal coincided with a broader reshuffle that also saw the ousting of other key allies of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua from significant parliamentary leadership roles. While the reasons behind the shake-up remain unclear, Nyoro’s silence leaves room for speculation about his future political direction.
