Police in Eldama Ravine, Baringo County, have launched an investigation into the brutal murder of a 32-year-old woman, allegedly at the hands of her ex-husband. The incident, which has sent shockwaves through the community, was reported by Saos area Chief Judith Chebon on Monday night.
According to police reports, the woman was found outside her alleged current boyfriend’s rented house with deep cuts on her head. Witnesses stated that she was last seen heading to the boyfriend’s residence a little past 8 pm. Barely an hour later, at around 9 pm, her lifeless body was discovered sprawled in the compound, drenched in blood.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Koibatek have since taken over the case, with the prime suspect her ex-husband believed to be on the run. Authorities have intensified their manhunt to bring him to justice, urging members of the public with any information to come forward.
Meanwhile, in a separate but equally harrowing case, police in Meru are also hunting down a man suspected of hacking his wife to death following a domestic dispute. The 45-year-old victim’s body was discovered dumped under a culvert along the Therone-Kiuma Murram Road, just hours after she was last seen alive.
According to witnesses, the couple had been spotted heading home from the market while engaged in a heated argument. It is suspected that, under the cover of darkness, the man turned on his wife, using a panga to inflict fatal cuts on her neck before fleeing the scene.
The police have vowed to leave no stone unturned in their pursuit of the suspects in both cases, emphasizing the need for justice for the victims and their families. They have also urged the public to report any cases of domestic violence before they escalate into such tragedies.
These incidents have reignited discussions on gender-based violence and the urgent need for interventions to protect vulnerable individuals in relationships. Community leaders and rights groups are calling for stronger measures to prevent such brutal acts and to offer better support systems for victims of domestic abuse.
