Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has called on Kenyans to use the Easter period as a moment of deep reflection and prayer for the nation. Her message came as Christians across the country gathered to commemorate Good Friday, a sacred day that marks the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
Speaking in Machakos after taking part in a Catholic Way of the Cross procession, Governor Ndeti emphasized the importance of the Easter season in Christian faith, noting that it offers an opportunity for both spiritual renewal and national reflection.
“Easter is a time to reflect on the fact that Jesus Christ died on the cross so that we may all be saved. We should also take this opportunity to pray for our country, that God may continue to bless us,” she said.
Governor Ndeti highlighted the role of faith in uniting Kenyans during times of difficulty, urging citizens to come together in prayer, especially as the country faces various challenges, including economic hardship and political tension. She noted that national healing and unity begin with each individual turning to God in sincerity and hope.
The governor also took the opportunity to issue a public safety advisory, warning residents to exercise caution amid the ongoing heavy rains. She urged the public to avoid swollen rivers, flooded roads, and other hazardous areas prone to flooding, stressing the importance of preserving life.
“I urge everyone to be extra careful during this rainy season. Let us avoid crossing rivers or going into flooded areas. We must protect lives,” she cautioned.
