President William Ruto has dismissed claims that his political and leadership success is due to cunning tactics, instead attributing his achievements to prayers and divine favor. Speaking during a church service at Jesus Winner Ministry in Roysambu, the Head of State emphasized that his rise to power and continued leadership are a testament to God’s blessings rather than mere strategy.
Ruto responded to critics who claim he has outmaneuvered political traps with skill, saying, “Kuna watu walikuwa wametuwekea mitego mingi, kwanza mimi… asipoangukia hapa ataangukia pale. Leo wanasema huyo Ruto ni mjanja.” (There were many traps set for me, but I overcame them, and now they say I am cunning.) He asserted that his ability to navigate challenges was not a result of political scheming but rather divine intervention.
The President reiterated his belief in faith-driven leadership, stating, “We are trusting God for our nation.” He likened his journey to that of the biblical Abraham, highlighting perseverance through adversity and trust in God’s guidance.
During the service, Ruto also showcased his administration’s achievements in agriculture, noting increased yields in maize, tea, and coffee. He said these successes were part of his government’s commitment to improving food security and economic stability.
As a demonstration of his support for religious institutions, Ruto pledged KSh 20 million towards the construction of a new church building for Jesus Winner Ministry. Additionally, he announced plans to lead a fundraiser to raise KSh 1.2 billion for the project, with a personal commitment of KSh 100 million from him and his allies. The proposed mega-sanctuary will be built on a two-acre piece of land and will feature an underground parking facility and a helipad.
Ruto also fulfilled a campaign promise by providing a title deed to the church, resolving a long-standing land dispute. He expressed gratitude to religious leaders for their prayers and continued spiritual guidance, reinforcing his administration’s partnership with faith-based organizations.
The President’s remarks and commitments underscore his alignment with the church and his narrative of divine guidance in governance, a message that continues to resonate with his supporters across the country.
