President William Ruto has conveyed his condolences to Senate Speaker Amason Kingi following the passing of his father, Mzee Kingi Mwaruwa. The news of Mzee Kingi’s demise was announced on Sunday by the Speaker in an emotional tribute that highlighted the struggles and triumphs of their life together.
In a statement released on Monday, President Ruto described Mzee Kingi as a respected, progressive, and hardworking individual.
“Our condolences to the Speaker of the Senate for the loss of his dear father, Mzee Kingi Mwaruwa. He was respected, progressive, and hardworking. Mheshimiwa Amason Kingi, the family, and the people of Kilifi are in our prayers during this difficult time. Rest In Peace,” Ruto stated.
Speaker Kingi, visibly heartbroken, took to social media to announce the sad news. He described his father as a pillar of strength and resilience, recalling the hardships he endured to provide for his family and ensure their success.
“Dad, our Patriarch Mzee Kingi Mwaruwa has rested. I’m completely broken, Dad, especially when I remember the painful journey and struggles that you went through to make me who I am today,” Kingi said.
He further revealed that his father had battled numerous ailments throughout his life. Despite these challenges, Mzee Kingi remained steadfast and determined, values that he instilled in his children. Kingi highlighted one of their most cherished moments together, recalling their first and only dance during the Christmas celebrations in December 2024.
“Since I attained adulthood, I don’t remember ever dancing with you, Dad. Not until December 24, 2024, during Christmas at Mjanaheri village when, for the very first time, we danced, danced, and danced together until sunset,” Kingi reminisced.
He recounted the joy on his father’s face during that moment, as they celebrated not only Christmas but also Mzee Kingi’s remarkable recovery from prolonged illnesses. Little did he know that this would be their last dance together.
As he paid tribute to his late father, Kingi expressed deep gratitude for the valuable lessons imparted to him.
“The biggest lesson I picked from you, Dad, is never to give up no matter what. It is this lesson that has pushed me this far. Indeed, you were God’s gift to us. I would never have asked for a better father,” he said.
Mzee Kingi Mwaruwa’s passing marks the end of an era for the Kingi family and the people of Kilifi. His legacy of resilience, hard work, and determination will continue to inspire those he left behind.
