President William Ruto is set to embark on a five-day working tour of the Mt Kenya region starting today, April 1, 2025. This marks his first visit to the region since August 2024, and it comes at a crucial time as he seeks to assess the progress of development projects, commission completed works, and launch new initiatives aimed at boosting the economic and social welfare of the region’s residents.
The President’s tour will focus on a range of key projects that are central to his administration’s development agenda. Among these are infrastructure projects, including road networks that are expected to enhance connectivity within the region and with other parts of the country. These roads are seen as a vital component in opening up rural areas for economic opportunities and improving access to markets and essential services.
In addition to roads, the President will highlight the progress made in the affordable housing sector, a key pillar of his administration’s urban development plan. He will also visit fresh produce markets designed to support local farmers, and showcase efforts to boost agriculture through water and irrigation systems. The completion of last-mile electricity connectivity in various areas will also be a major highlight of the tour, providing much-needed power to remote communities.
Another significant part of the tour will be the issuance of title deeds to residents in Kieni (Nyeri) and Tigania West (Meru) constituencies. This move is aimed at promoting land ownership and providing legal recognition to individuals who have long awaited formal documentation for their properties.
The President’s visit underscores his commitment to ensuring that the benefits of development reach all corners of the country, including the Mt Kenya region, which has long been an important political and economic hub. Through these projects, the government aims to enhance the livelihoods of Kenyans while fostering national cohesion and prosperity.
