George Oduor, the longtime bodyguard and aide of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, will be laid to rest on Friday, April 11, 2025, at his home in Ndori, near Bondo. Oduor passed away on Wednesday, April 2, while undergoing treatment at a city hospital.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party, in a statement, confirmed his burial date and location. “Our comrade George Oduor will be laid to rest on Friday, 11/4/2025, at his home in Ndori, next to Bondo,” the party announced on Thursday.
To honor his memory, condolence books have been made available at ODM headquarters, Chungwa House, on Loyiangalani Drive in Lavington, as well as at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Foundation (JOOF) offices on Matumbato Road in Upper Hill, Nairobi.
Oduor, a dedicated and professional bodyguard, had been a key member of Raila Odinga’s security team for decades. He joined Raila’s team in 1994 after the passing of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga and served with diligence until his death. His unwavering loyalty and commitment made him an integral figure within the Odinga family and the wider ODM political movement.
Raila Odinga, in his tribute, described Oduor as a pillar of strength, not only to him personally but also to the entire Jaramogi Oginga Odinga family. “He was always vigilant and extremely professional in discharging his duties,” Raila said, mourning the loss of his trusted aide.
Several political leaders and allies of the ODM leader have also expressed their condolences, remembering Oduor as a friend and brother in the fight for democracy and good governance. His dedication to Raila’s cause made him more than just a bodyguard—he was a confidant and a crucial part of the struggle for political change in Kenya.
As preparations for his final journey continue, Oduor’s contributions to the ODM fraternity and the broader political landscape will remain deeply cherished. His passing marks the end of an era for those who worked closely with him, but his legacy of loyalty and professionalism will endure.
May he rest in peace.
