President William Ruto has reiterated his commitment to collaborating with any leader who places Kenya’s interests above personal or political ambitions. Speaking in Lang’ata Constituency, Nairobi County, during the launch of several development projects, the President defended his recent cooperation with opposition leader Raila Odinga, emphasizing the need for unity in achieving national transformation.
“Raila is a patriotic leader who recognises that the transformation and unity of Kenya are crucial. Let us work together for the progress and transformation of our nation,” Ruto stated while addressing residents in Lang’ata.
The President’s remarks come amid his extensive tour of Nairobi County, which began on Monday. His engagements have focused on development initiatives aimed at improving education, housing, and overall living conditions.
One of the key highlights of his tour was the official inauguration of PCEA Booth Girls’ High School in Ngong’ Forest, Nairobi. Ruto announced a sponsorship programme for 10 vulnerable girls from each of the 17 constituencies in Nairobi, ensuring their enrollment in the institution. He reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to eliminating barriers that hinder girls from accessing education.
“Through guaranteed access to quality learning, we can further gender equality and empower our girls to actively participate in the transformation of Kenya,” Ruto noted.
In addition to education, the President underscored the significance of the affordable housing programme as part of his administration’s agenda to provide dignified living conditions for Kenyans. During his visit to Lang’ata, he presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the Southlands Lang’ata Affordable Housing Project – Lot 5 in Mugumoini. The project, expected to host 60 residential blocks with 15,960 housing units, will also include two community centres and a primary school.
“Our affordable housing projects will eradicate slums in Lang’ata and Kibra, turning them into estates that provide decent living conditions to people,” Ruto stated.
The President’s development-focused tour signals his administration’s commitment to fostering unity and progress through infrastructure, education, and economic empowerment. His willingness to work with leaders across the political divide underscores the need for collaboration in driving Kenya’s transformation agenda.
