Today marks the final leg of President William Ruto’s extensive tour of Mt Kenya, with a visit to Tharaka Nithi County. Accompanied by his Deputy, Kithure Kindiki, and other regional leaders, President Ruto is expected to launch a series of projects, assess ongoing initiatives, and commission new ones. This tour, which began on Tuesday, has already taken him through six counties: Laikipia, Nyeri, Meru, Murang’a, Kirinyaga, and Nyandarua. The President’s engagement in these counties has been focused on various development initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure and enhancing regional growth.
The day’s events will kick off in Mbeere South constituency, where Ruto is set to inspect the Kiambere Bulk Water Supply Project. This initiative is expected to have a significant impact on the local community, ensuring more reliable water access in the area. After Mbeere South, the President will travel to Tharaka constituency, where further project launches and assessments are planned. His itinerary also includes stops at Runyenjes, Maara, and a concluding visit to Chuka-Igamba Ng’ombe constituency. These engagements are seen as a critical part of the government’s efforts to promote regional equity and support local economies.
Simultaneously, in Nairobi, the newly appointed Principal Secretaries (PSs) will appear before the National Assembly committees for their vetting process. The sessions, which were scheduled last week, will see the PSs face thorough questioning to ensure they meet the qualifications required for the roles they have been nominated for. The successful vetting of these leaders is crucial for the efficient functioning of the government in the coming years.
In a separate development, the High Court will host a significant event this afternoon from 2 pm to 4 pm at the Milimani Ceremonial Hall. The event, dubbed “Closing of the File for the Late Justice David Majanja and the Late Justice Daniel Ogembo,” will honor the lives and contributions of these two distinguished jurists, with tributes being paid and a formal court session held in their memory.
Today’s events reflect key aspects of both national development and judicial commemoration, showcasing the government’s multifaceted approach to governance and service to the people.
