Authorities are investigating a string of sudden deaths reported across different counties, raising concerns over the increasing number of unexplained fatalities. In a single day, at least five individuals collapsed and died in separate incidents.
In Nairobi, a female employee at the Government Printers, identified as Emmah Nyaaga, collapsed at her workplace on Tuesday, March 11. She was rushed to Rhodes Chest Clinic but was pronounced dead on arrival. Police said they are awaiting autopsy results to determine the cause of death, as her family confirmed she had no known medical history.
In Kitui County’s Kisasi area, Serah Musembi collapsed and died at her home in Ikothamwithi village. She was taken to Mbitini Health Center, where medics confirmed her death. Preliminary investigations indicate that she had been suffering from ulcers for an extended period. Her body was transferred to Kitui General Hospital Mortuary, pending an autopsy.
Another case was reported in Ruiru, Kiambu County, where a 50-year-old security guard, Evans Mutingu, was found dead in his house. After failing to report to work and not responding to calls, his colleagues visited his residence. They were forced to break down his door, only to find him lifeless on his bed. Police confirmed that his body showed no visible signs of injury. It was moved to General Kago Mortuary for further examination.
In Lugari, Kakamega County, Esau Kipruto, 35, was discovered dead beside a footpath in Sokyot Village. The cause of his death remains unknown, as no visible physical injuries were noted. Authorities moved his body to the mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
In Nairobi’s Kiambiu area, Simon Makunda, 51, collapsed and died while walking home. Witnesses saw him fall suddenly. His body was also taken to the mortuary, awaiting further investigations.
Police have expressed concern over the rise in sudden deaths, stating that up to five such cases are reported daily. While some are linked to underlying health conditions, others remain a mystery. Investigations are ongoing to establish the causes of these tragic incidents.
