Tigania East MP Mpuru Aburi has openly endorsed Deputy President Kithure Kindiki as the ideal candidate to take over from President William Ruto in the 2032 elections. Speaking during President Ruto’s visit to Tharaka Nithi on April 4, 2025, Aburi highlighted Kindiki’s unwavering loyalty and commitment to serving the Kenyan people.
“In 2027, we know the President will remain William Samoei Ruto, but in 2032, we know that Kithure Kindiki will take over,” Aburi declared, signaling his firm belief in Kindiki’s political potential. He also expressed gratitude to President Ruto for selecting Kindiki as his deputy, stressing that the continuity of leadership was essential for the country’s progress. Aburi called on Ruto to retain Kindiki as his deputy in 2027, allowing him to prepare for the 2032 transition.
President Ruto, currently serving his first term, is expected to seek re-election in 2027, and if successful, would retire in 2032 as per Kenya’s constitution. His remarks throughout his tour of the Mount Kenya region have consistently praised Kindiki, emphasizing his loyalty and service to the nation. During his speech, Ruto hinted at the possibility of handing over the mantle to Kindiki in 2032.
Kindiki himself has faced criticism from some quarters, with detractors labeling him a “Yes Man.” In response, the Deputy President defended his position, drawing parallels with Ruto’s own past as a loyal deputy to former President Uhuru Kenyatta. “For 10 years, President William Ruto was ‘Mr. Yes Man’ to former President Uhuru Kenyatta. So, I’m not stupid, and I know what I’m doing,” Kindiki remarked.
President Ruto, in a show of support, reflected on the historical context of Kenyan leadership, pointing out that it is often those who have been “Yes Men” to their predecessors who eventually ascend to the presidency. He cited figures like former Presidents Daniel arap Moi, Mwai Kibaki, and himself, all of whom served in subservient roles before taking the highest office.
As political attention turns toward the 2027 elections, the idea of Kindiki as a potential successor to Ruto in 2032 seems to be gaining traction, with supporters like MP Mpuru Aburi playing a pivotal role in the growing narrative.
