Detectives in Nairobi’s Lang’ata area are investigating the mysterious death of a 19-year-old girl, Faith Momanyi, who was found dead in her boyfriend’s house after celebrating her birthday. The tragic incident has left her family and friends in shock as authorities seek to determine the cause of her untimely demise.
Faith, a recent Form Four graduate, had left her parents’ home to celebrate her birthday with friends. The group of five gathered at a popular entertainment joint along Lang’ata Road, where they enjoyed the evening together. As the night progressed, the group dispersed, leaving Faith and a female friend to accompany her boyfriend, Mark, to his residence.
According to the female friend, she left Faith and Mark in the house a little past midnight. The following day, when she tried reaching Faith, her calls went unanswered. At around 5 p.m., she received an alarming call from Mark, who informed her that Faith had died.
Mark claimed that he had left for work in the morning, locking the house behind him, and returned in the evening to find Faith unresponsive in bed. A witness who encountered him at the scene recounted that the house was locked when Mark arrived, and after gaining access using a spare key, he discovered Faith lifeless.
The shocking news devastated Faith’s family, particularly her father, Momanyi Atisa, who collapsed upon learning of his daughter’s death. He described Faith as a bright and promising young woman who had scored a B grade in her national exams and was preparing to join university.
“I had done everything to ensure she secured her future through education. She was our hope, and now she is gone,” a distraught Momanyi lamented.
An autopsy conducted on Faith’s body revealed that she died due to a lack of air, with a significant amount of water found in her lungs. Investigators have since taken more samples to the government chemist for toxicology tests to determine whether foul play was involved.
Meanwhile, Mark remains in police custody as authorities work to unravel the circumstances leading to Faith’s tragic death. The investigation continues as her grieving family seeks justice and closure.
